1. Have you come across a lifestyle brand from India in Europe? If yes, which one and where? Did it appeal to you?
I do not know in Europe, but in Italy I do not think some body knows Indian brands of any kind.

2. In your opinion, what could be the reason for the absence of Indian brands in Europe?
I have never seen any sort of promotion about Indian products/brands: absolute absent, except tourism with Incredible India.
Ivano Micheletti
Luxury Consultant and Ex-director of Consorzio Orafi Aretini, Arezzo-Italy
No marketing has been done and therefore there is no appeal to the market.
Tullio Montaini
Sales Manager at RM Impianti Srl
Too less awareness of what India has to offer and too less marketing. Perhaps Indian production concentrates on the domestic market.

3. If there were some Indian brands, would people buy them?
If an Indian brand would be promoted, for sure, like any other brand, were bought by anybody. Obviously, a brand is not enough. It must be associated with the products. Only brand very well known and already popular can be bought blindly.
Ivano Micheletti
Luxury Consultant and Ex-director of Consorzio Orafi Aretini, Arezzo-Italy
Yes, depends on marketing and price.
Tullio Montaini
Sales Manager at RM Impianti Srl
I am convinced that the Indian Culture arises more and more interest in Germany – not only as a travel destination or regarding spiritual aspects. For exotic spices, Indian food and especially Ayurveda products I see great potential.

4. What is the connotation of an Indian brand in your mind?
An Indian brand in Italy and I suppose in Europe gives a certain image of the country and its people and correct knowledge of the same is missing.
Ivano Micheletti
Luxury Consultant and Ex-director of Consorzio Orafi Aretini, Arezzo-Italy
Plastic-free, use of renewable resources, protected geographical designations of origin.
Tullio Montaini

5. What, if any steps could be taken by the Indian government to change the scenario?
The government could do a lot, investing a lot of money on projects finalized to that by specialized people who know perfectly what the matter is made of. A lot of things can be done in any field.
Ivano Micheletti
Luxury Consultant and Ex-director of Consorzio Orafi Aretini, Arezzo-Italy
Improve protected geographical designations of origin and all regulations on manufacturing.
Tullio Montaini

Better promotion, stronger branding. Furthermore, education about health benefits for products especially from India could contribute to a rising awareness – for example, products like Amla Juice or Chawanprash would be unique products in Germany to sell.

6. Any other comments.
A book could be written on this subject!

Establishing a brand is mainly focused on marketing but the product must be aligned with today’s public perceptions.

Especially Health Products and India’s Spirituality would be something that could add great value to German Lifestyles and growing health awareness.
